Driver was lighting cigarette when he caused downtown Lincoln crash, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man has been ticketed after a downtown Lincoln crash.

About 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, an SUV was going east on O Street near Ninth Street.

Police said crossed into the westbound lanes, hitting a Honda Fit that was in the turning lane.

The impact pushed the Honda Fit into a pickup truck, according to a police crash report.

The SUV and the pickup ended up on the sidewalk.

Police said one person was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the SUV, a Lincoln man, was lighting a cigarette when the collision occurred.

He was cited and released.
