Drones help authorities find missing Nebraska man at state recreation area near Norfolk

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A missing Nebraska man was found Sunday after he was missing for 48 hours in Madison County.
Around 2:15 p.m., the Madison County Sheriff’s Office was sent to the Yellow Banks State Recreation Area, located between Battle Creek and Meadow Grove.
Deputies were sent to the south side of the park after friends and family of a 46-year-old man from Tilden said they hadn’t spoken to him in three days.
A friend camping in the area recognized the man’s car parked nearby on Saturday and notified authorities on Sunday after he was unable to find his friend.
According to the sheriff’s office, the man had a known medical condition that can cause confusion and disorientation.
Deputies launched a multi-agency search involving several drone units and all-terrain vehicles.
Just before nightfall, a drone identified a heat signature beneath a log structure.
Search teams quickly responded, found the man and provided immediate medical assistance.
He was taken to Faith Regional Health Services for evaluation, according to the sheriff’s office.
“This was a time-sensitive situation, and all first responders did an outstanding job during this critical incident,” said Madison County Sheriff Todd Volk.
