Drunken driver found asleep in car blocking west Lincoln road, authorities say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lancaster County deputy found a car parked in the middle of the road Wednesday morning, and authorities say the drunken driver was passed out inside.
About 2:30 a.m., a deputy saw a car blocking Northwest 48th Street just south of Interstate 80, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said it took a while to wake the driver, a 49-year-old Beatrice man.
The sheriff’s office said his blood alcohol content level was 0.157%, almost twice the legal limit.
The man also had a revolver in the console, which he initially denied, according to authorities.
He is facing three misdemeanors: aggravated DUI, failing to declare a concealed firearm, and being under the influence while in possession of a concealed firearm.
“People are allowed to carry weapons, and have them concealed,” Houchin said. “But the alcohol thing is just such a big no-no.”
