Dry, pleasant fall week with warmer end

We’re now officially into the season of fall! We’ll see plenty of changes throughout this period, as we continue to lose sunlight day by day. Especially looking at the beginning of fall vs. the end of fall in terms of sunset times, we’ll see quite the change. By the winter solstice (the end of fall), sunset will be close to 5 p.m. CDT.

Not to mention we’ll be expecting a lot colder weather by then, also. Enjoy the great week we have coming up!

Fall Changes

With fall here, we’ll keep checking in on the fall colors starting to spread across Nebraska. Here’s the most recent data we have of where we currently stand. Most of the state just seeing some low color in the leaves, with some reports of select spots trying for orange.

Peak fall colors on the leaves are normally expected around mid- to late October, but the drought should speed up this process.

A cooler start to this week, the first full week of fall! Last week, we started off with temperatures in the 90s, but we’re starting off in the lower 80s on Monday. Plenty of sunshine in the forecast for this week, too.

We’ll be nearing normal through Tuesday and Wednesday, with dry weather through this week. But you see Thursday and Friday? We’re expected to be on the warmer side of normal heading into the weekend.

Week Ahead

One of the reasons we’ll see this warm up again will be winds picking up out of the south, bringing in a warmer air mass to end the month of September. It’s looking like a windy one by Friday!

Another dry forecast isn’t what we need either, but it’s what we are expecting. The next chance for some rain may come by next Sunday.
