Dryer sparks fire in east Lincoln apartment complex, sends one to hospital
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Crews battled a fire at an apartment complex in east Lincoln on Sunday.
Just before 3:15 p.m., several units were sent to Argosy Apartments near 54th and R streets.
When crews arrived, heavy smoke filled the second floor hallway and crews evacuated residents from the building.
According to Battalion Chief Jim Bopp, several items in a dryer sparked the fire in a laundry room.
LFR said they found a resident trying to put the fire out. He was conscious and breathing when they found him, but he was taken to the hospital out of precaution.
The fire caused heavy damage to the dryer and nearby walls, and there was some structure damage, according to LFR.
There is not an exact damage estimate and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
All the residents were able to return to their apartments.
