LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was killed Saturday in a house fire in rural southeast Nebraska.

Around 7 a.m., fire crews from Humboldt and Dawson were sent to a house fire east of Du Bois.

The Richardson County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that the house was a “total loss” by the time crews arrived.

Inside, crews found the body of 39-year-old Daniel Kaster.

After an investigation, the sheriff’s office determined that Kaster died in the fire, which started sometime overnight.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
