Dusting possible for most from flurries, light snow by the second half of Thursday
Following the latest first snow and the longest streak of snowless days, it’s certainly been a slow start to the season.
The rest of the state is facing the same thing, with more of a snow drought through northern Nebraska where they’re running around a foot to two feet below average.
There is some light snow in the forecast statewide today as a cold front makes a journey through. But first, we’re all a whole lot warmer as of 6 a.m. Thursday morning as well!
Temperatures will make a run for the middle and upper 30s this afternoon as the front is approaching. Eventually winds will shift out of the northwest with a breeze around 20-25 mph during the second part of the day.
That front will drive some flurries, light snow and maybe a few raindrops through our area. The pink on the leading edge of that band of snow as you see in Stormcast could be hinting at a few sprinkles trying to mix in first.
That is followed by light snow chances into the very early evening hours.
Most will see maybe up to a dusting out of this… some as much as perhaps a couple tenths of an inch.
Beyond Thursday, we’ll be slightly cooler on Friday with a few flurries possible again.
This weekend will be partly sunny to mostly cloudy with slightly colder temperatures for Sunday and into Monday.
But beyond Thursday, we aren’t looking at much for snow chances. Or precipitation in general. We may be in for some warmer temperatures pushing about 40° by the end of next week.
