LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The City of Wahoo on Tuesday said E. coli was found in water samples from the city’s public water system.

City of Wahoo Utilities water customers are now under a boil order through Friday.

According to officials, customers should not drink water until it has been boiled.

It’s recommended that the water be boiled for at least one minute and cooled before use.

Customers can also use bottled water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation until further notice.

Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.

This notice does include those customers served water from the Wahoo public water system through the Lower Platte North NRD.

This includes the Village of Colon and those customers along the main line from Wahoo to Colon.

The full boil order can be found here.
