E coli reported in Kearney swimming pond

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Health officials in central Nebraska are reporting that a Kearney swimming pond tested positive for E. Coli this week.
In a press release on Thursday, the Two Rivers Public Health Department said bacteria levels at the Cottonmill Swimming Pond are higher than normal.
A health alert has not been issued – but conditions are at a”higher risk to human health when swimming,” the department said.
Signs are not posted at the pond either due to rapid changes in the bacteria’s conditions.
The health department still wants people to be aware of beach conditions.
