Eagle Raceway holds annual Kids Bike Bonanza

After spending four hours assembling over 200 hundred bikes, the annual kids bike bonanza kicked off at eagle raceway Saturday.
Children were lined up at the gates to take their shot at winning one of those bikes.
“They go through our line, they draw a popsicle stick and either they win a bike or they go to our prize table. Everybody ends up with something at the end of the night,” Stacey Carter said.
Prizes included popcorn, cups, stickers and colored pencils.
The bike bonanza started many years ago but was on a much smaller scale.
“It’s kind of something they done every year. It started off with a family giving bikes to kids, and then when Roger and Michelle took over, ownership of the track, they kind of incorporated it and its grown since then,” Carter said.
All of the bikes were donated by drivers at eagle raceway and over $10,000 was raised.
The owner of eagle raceway, Roger Hadan, says this gives the riders a chance to interact with their fans.
“This is just one of them deals where the drivers chip in money for the bikes and so it’s basically our drivers are trying to support their hobby and get future fans and drivers involved,” Hadan said.
With such a generous donation for the children, the impact is felt throughout the community.
Hadan says to this day, he still hears stories about how much the bikes influence the kids.
“It’s a pretty big deal because I’ll get people who walk up to me and say, you know I got a bike at eagle raceway 10 years ago and we come to the races every week because of it,” Hadan said.
