Early morning showers clear out, mostly cloudy first day of school
Some spotty showers were seen redeveloping early Monday morning. These should be quick to clear out, but we’ll be overcast through the morning hours for the bus stop and first day of school. We wish all the students a successful school year!
Dense fog has developed in southwest Nebraska and up in north-central portions of the state. A Dense Fog Advisory will continue for those especially in southwest Nebraska with visibility down to a quarter mile or less at times.
After temperatures are steady in the lower 60s during the morning, more peeks of sunshine are anticipated by the second half of the day especially as school is getting out. Temperatures by then should be warming through the 70s.
Most will be dry the rest of the day after the spotty morning round, yet scattered storms develop and roll into the Panhandle Monday evening. These will likely die off as the sun is setting.
The severe potential lies over extreme southwest Nebraska into Monday evening, with a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk there.
More morning storms are possible closer to the Kansas border by Tuesday morning, with another couple chances Wednesday morning and Wednesday night. There is a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk across most of the state for Wednesday afternoon and night’s potential.
Most eastern Nebraska has a decent chance at picking up at least a half inch of rain through Thursday.
After a cloudy and cooler start to school, we’ll be warmer with more sunshine toward the end of the week.
