Early rain Tuesday gives way to sunshine; snow chances in southwest Nebraska soon
Early rain on Election Day will be in the area through the morning commute, tapering off a few hours before noon.
If you plan to vote earlier, take some rain gear with you with rain chances carrying through the early hours of the polls opening.
Polls will open up by 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, with rain scattered across far eastern Nebraska at that point from Lincoln toward Omaha and up around Sioux City. Cloud cover will clear along with the rain especially by the afternoon hours today.
Count on the sun to return, yet temperatures will remain around average for early November as high temperatures near the middle 50s. Winds will slowly shift from the northwest to the southwest and decrease throughout the day.
Looking ahead, a changeover to snow looks to happen across eastern Colorado into southwest Nebraska into Wednesday. Temperatures will likely allow precipitation to chance to snow across southwest Nebraska into the Sandhills Wednesday morning.
Precipitation is expected to continue for much of the day on Wednesday, but there are some uncertainties in how warm temperatures will get during the day to make a changeover to rain or a rain/snow mix later on.
Accumulations will likely be less than 1″ for most, but enough wintry precipitation to make conditions slick Wednesday.
