Early voting for Lincoln primary election begins Monday

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lancaster County Election Office on Monday said it has started mailing early vote ballots for the Lincoln primary election on April 8.
Election Commissioner Todd Wiltgen said every voter who requested an early vote ballot through March 21 should receive their ballots by the end of this week.
Early vote ballots must be returned to the Election Commission Office by mail or by dropping them off in one of the secure drop boxes listed below:
- Election Commissioner, 601 North 46th Street
- Anderson Branch Library, 3635 Touzalin Avenue
- Eiseley Branch Library, 1530 Superior Street
- Gere Branch Library, 2400 South 56th Street
- Walt Branch Library, 6701 South 14th Street
By law, early vote ballot envelopes must be signed and received by the Election Commission by 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 8th.
Also starting today, Lincoln voters may pick up an early vote ballot or vote in-person for the April Primary Election at the Election Office.
Election Commission office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Extended office hours are listed below:
- Friday, March 28, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Wednesday, April 2, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Saturday, April 5, 10 a.m. to noon
- Monday, April 7, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Vote by-mail applications for the primary election must be received by the Election Commissioner’s Office by 6:00 PM on Friday, March 28th.
Voters can check the status of their early vote ballot on the Nebraska Secretary of State’s Voter View website at: www.votercheck.necvr.ne.gov.
Commissioner Wiltgen reminds the public the penalty for election falsification is imprisonment for up to two years and twelve months post-release supervision, a fine not to exceed $10,000, or both.
