LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An east Lincoln Goodwill is hosting an electronics recycling drive on Saturday.

The Goodwill near 48th and Vine streets is encouraging the community to recycle their unused electronics from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Goodwill has a partnership with Dell Reconnect, which allows items to be refurbished in stores and recycled.

People can donate most electronics and small appliances, but Goodwill cannot accept microwaves or televisions, according to a press release.

Alana Sesow, communications director at Lincoln Goodwill, said the event helps prevent e-waste in landfills.

“The partnership that we have with Dell Reconnect is very important because we know that those electronics are getting recycled responsibly,” she said.

The electronics will be sold at Goodwill’s stores.  The profits will then go toward local programs that help job seekers overcome barriers to employment, officials said.
