Eight arrested after ‘lengthy’ standoff at home near Hastings College
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Eight people were arrested Friday after a standoff at a home in Hastings, police say.
Over the past couple of months, several people were caught with meth after leaving the home near Eastside Boulevard and University Avenue.
“We have listened to the concerns and have applied many resources over the past several months to address the suspected criminal activity at this location,” police said in a press release.
When officers arrived, they ordered the residents to exit the home, but only two people complied.
Eight other people refused to come out.
Police said the “lengthy” standoff ended after officers deployed chemical irritants inside the home.
In total, eight Hastings residents were arrested on suspicion of obstructing a police officer. Three of them were also charged with possession of meth.
“We want to thank all agencies that helped in this event and also thank the citizens in the neighborhood for their cooperation, information and positive interaction during this event,” police said.
