Electrician hospitalized after being shocked by transformer in Lancaster County

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An electrician was injured Wednesday when he was shocked by a transformer in Hickman, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says.

Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said the electrician, a 67-year-old man, touched a transformer that needed to be fixed.

The transformer sent a 7,200-volt shock through the man and knocked him out.  He was flown to a hospital and is expected to survive, Houchin said.

The electrician had only turned off two of the three underground circuits before working on the transformer.
