Empty vehicle found submerged in lake west of Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An unoccupied vehicle was found Monday morning submerged in a lake near Lincoln.
Around 6 a.m., Southwest Rural Fire Department crews were sent to Yankee Hill Lake near Southwest 40th Street and West Denton Road for a water rescue.
Those emergency crews were called off after the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office discovered the vehicle was empty.
A Channel 8 reporter sent in a video on the NOW Local News App showing the vehicle partially underwater near the lake’s dam.
The sheriff’s office said the car had been reported stolen in Lincoln.
Authorities are unsure how or when the vehicle got into the lake. An investigation is ongoing.
