Entering a warm and dry pattern for the time being
Any rain that we saw on Saturday night pushed out of the area in the very early morning hours on Sunday. The rest of the day featured drier weather, with temperatures in the 80s for most of southeast Nebraska.
On Sunday night, we expect temperatures to drop into the middle-60s near Lincoln. Skies should remain mostly clear, and we can’t rule out patchy fog in some areas.
Sunny skies are in the forecast for Monday. It’ll be a warm and dry day, with high temperatures in the lower and middle-90s across southeast Nebraska. Winds will be back out of the south on Monday.
Temperatures may be able to rise a little bit more on Tuesday, although a cold front will be approaching from the west. As of now, this cold front appears to be a dry. A pocket of warm air above 5,000 feet, known as a cap, appears to suppress any storm development.
After the passage of the front, temperatures may back off slightly. However, highs will still be warm on Wednesday. The “cooldown” will be very brief, as more hot and humid days are expected for the rest of the week.
