Everyone safe after boat takes on water at Branched Oak Lake

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — First responders worked quickly Sunday night to rescue a group of boaters from a disabled craft on Branched Oak Lake.
A couple of families were out on a boat about 8:30 p.m., when it lost power and began to take on water, according to Malcolm Fire & Rescue Chief Corey Heidtbrink.
Multiple agencies and a dive team responded, he said.
The boat was slowly drifting toward the shore, Heidtbrink said. It was about 100 yards out when first responders arrived on a pontoon.
Heidtbrink said no one was in the water and no one was injured.
The boat was towed to shore.
“Everything was successful,” Heidtbrink said.
