Ex-LSD kingpin caught with 437 pounds of marijuana in Seward County, authorities say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A self-described former LSD kingpin pleaded not guilty on Thursday to transporting drugs in Seward County.
Seth Ferranti, 53, waived his preliminary hearing in Seward County Court.
He is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
On Oct. 29, a deputy with the Seward County Sheriff’s Office pulled over a pickup truck for driving on the shoulder of Interstate 80.
Ferranti was behind the wheel, according to court documents.
The deputy smelled marijuana and “became increasingly suspicious” that Ferranti was “involved in major criminal activity,” an arrest affidavit says.
So the deputy searched the pickup and found 14 cardboard boxes in the bed of the truck.
The sheriff’s office said those boxes contained heat-sealed packages of marijuana weighing a total of 437 pounds.
Ferranti was arrested and taken to the Seward County Jail, where he remains in custody on a $500,000 bond.
During the investigation, the sheriff’s office discovered that Ferranti was no amateur.
He was convicted of distribution of LSD in 1993 and of delivery of a controlled substance in 2021, according to court documents.
Ferranti’s own website calls him an LSD kingpin and says he tried to fake his suicide to evade capture.
After he was released from federal prison in 2015, he started a writing and filmmaking career.
He wrote “White Boy,” a documentary on Netflix about a drug dealer in Detroit in the 1980s, according to IMDB.
Ferranti’s arraignment in Seward County District Court is on Nov. 18.
