Ex-Nebraska transit director sentenced in $740,000 embezzlement case

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A former Nebraska transit director was sentenced Thursday for going on a spending spree with the company credit card.

Jeffrey Stewart, 33, was sentenced to 15 to 18 years with 471 days of time-served credit.

From April to December 2022, Stewart made more than $740,000 in unauthorized purchases, according to court documents.

That included $35,000 to bring his family to Disney World in Florida, according to a state audit.

Stewart will be eligible for parole after serving seven years of his sentence.
