Extension of the weekend weather-wise; quite the midweek warm up

The main story of this week will be the midweek warmup especially into Thursday. Until then, Monday is expected to be one of the coolest days of the week.

It’ll be a nice extension of the weekend weather-wise, with a lot of sun and temperatures topping out in the mid 80s.

Lincoln Today Hour By Hour

The severe weather risk remains well off to the west for this evening. A Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk is in place for the far reaches of the Panhandle as storms are expected to be at their peak intensity there before diminishing in strength as they move east.

Spc Monday

Storms are expected to fall apart as they try to move into central Nebraska Monday night. A few spot showers may be leftover for eastern Nebraska Tuesday morning.

There’s a lot of uncertainty for anyone to see storms, let alone strong storms, on Wednesday. Most of Nebraska is under a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk for maybe a storm or two to be severe. The better forcing for stronger storms will be north and east of the state.

Wednesday Spc

Thursday we’ll need to watch with a closer eye, as the Storm Prediction Center already has Lincoln and southeast Nebraska highlighted for possible severe weather four days out.

Thursday Spc

The higher confidence in impactful weather conditions will be the heat toward Wednesday and Thursday. It won’t be overly oppressive heat, but heat indices will climb a few degrees warmer than the highs in the mid and upper 90s by then.

That weather pattern will also keep storm chances on and off throughout the upcoming weekend as well.
