Extreme fire danger conditions this afternoon and evening

Weather Alerts Liz

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Red Flag Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service through this evening for parts of eastern and south central Nebraska.

Extreme fire danger conditions are expected the rest of the day due to strong winds, low relative humidity and dry vegetation.

Due to lack of precipitation and major drought conditions, dry grass and dry croplands have a high risk for fires.

Wind gusts of 35-50 mph possible and any fire that does develop will spread rapidly.

Use extreme caution while harvesting and avoid burning.
