Fake $1 bill used in Nebraska community; no one knows who’s behind the bogus buck

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A fake $1 bill was used in a Nebraska community this week, and the counterfeit’s origins are completely unknown.

CRANE Public Transit in Grand Island noticed the bogus buck around 8 a.m. on Monday.

According to the Grand Island Police Department, CPT isn’t sure how it ended up with the money.

The U.S. Sentencing Commission’s latest data shows there were 57,287 counterfeiting cases in 2021.

That’s a big drop from the 75,836 cases reported in 2014.

The most recent information says 73.5% of offenders were men and 52.6% of them were white.

Their average age was 35.
