Fake Lancaster County deputy scams man out of $830

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Police Department says a 25-year-old man is out $830 after falling victim to a scam.
Authorities tell Channel 8 that he got a call from a private number just after 6 p.m. Wednesday.
They say someone on the other line claimed to be a Lancaster County deputy.
From there, the victim was told that there was a warrant out for his arrest and he needed to pay $1,800.
We’re told that the man used Cash App to send the scammer $830, before learning from family that he was being conned.
Lincoln Police stress that government agencies do not request payment through Cash App or gift cards.
