Family grows 1,000 pound pumpkin on first try

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Fall is right around the corner, bringing with it the tradition of picking out a pumpkin for jack-o’-lanterns and pies.

One family in southwestern Virginia has some bragging rights.  The Edwards family grew eight giant pumpkins on their first try.

One of them is more than 1,000 lbs.  The family says they were inspired by the giant pumpkins they saw on a trip to Dollywood.

The Edwards began growing giants inside their house in April.
