Family of slain Lincoln man demands justice as days go by without arrest

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – More than a week has passed since Gregory Little was shot and killed outside a downtown Lincoln bar.

But the man who police say shot him has not been arrested or charged.

On Wednesday, Little’s family demanded answers and justice.

“I don’t know what’s taking so long,” said Kelyna Taylor, Little’s sister. “The evidence is there.”

Police said the shooting happened early on April 7 during a “disagreement” outside the Royal Hookah Bar and Lounge near 16th and O streets.

Authorities arrived to find Little with multiple gunshot wounds.

Police said a security guard working at the bar shot Little. Lincoln Police have not released the name of the guard, out of fear of retaliation.

Last week, Assistant Police Chief Jason Stille said investigators are still tracking down witnesses and high-quality video.

But Taylor said they should have enough by now.

“We have a lot of videos, and it shows he murdered my brother,” she said. “No self-defense or anything. It happened so fast, but I watched the videos, and you can see in the video.”

Little’s brother, John Scott Davenport II, said he’s seen all the videos there is to see and believes the security guard should be arrested.

“My brother got shot,” he said. “I just feel like it’s being prolonged at this point. If anyone could do anything, do it. The more time it takes, the more I have to think about the situation. It’s just crazy.”

Taylor said she’s “very angry” and wants to see justice.

“I want him to go to jail,” she said.

The family has put up posters with Little’s picture and name to spread the word.

They also put together a memorial outside the bar, which Taylor visits multiple times a day.

“The bar or the security company haven’t even reached out to us to apologize for what happened, and that’s really sad,” she said. “So, I hope this bar never opens again.”
