Fantastic fall day, then strong storms possible

We’ve got about one more day of fantastic fall weather ahead of us for Tuesday. Starting a bit on the chillier side, temperatures will warm up through the morning with winds back out of the southeast.

Highs by the afternoon will be in the 70s. Light winds, sunny skies and temperatures that look like this make for another top-tier type of Tuesday!

Planning ahead, it’ll be a great day to sit out on the deck for an afternoon break or an evening chat. Count on this being one of our calmest evenings for some time the rest of the week. There’s a small chance to see a light shower overnight into the early hours of Wednesday, but most will stay dry.

Deck Forecast

For Wednesday and Thursday, our tides will be changing. With a strong low pressure system developing, a warm front will spark some storms by Wednesday night.

Wed Stormcast

There’s a chance an isolated storm or two could be severe across central and eastern Nebraska, with a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk shaded in green below. The main hazards look to be hail and strong winds for the risk of severe storms late on Wednesday.

This same system will move north and east with a cold front then approaching by late Thursday afternoon. If we see some clearing ahead of that front, stronger storms will be likely through eastern Nebraska, while out west the first snow is possible.

Thu Stormcast

The latest update from the Storm Prediction Center has southeast Nebraska under a Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk (shaded in yellow, below). All severe weather hazards are possible for Thursday along the cold front.

We’ll experience some lingering showers on Friday, and much colder air. Strong winds will come by Friday, too, making Friday feel miserable.
