Farmer rescued after being trapped in corn bin in northeast Nebraska
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A farmer was rescued Sunday evening after falling into a corn bin in rural Stanton County.
Around 7 p.m., the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office got a report of a farmer trapped in a corn bin, just northwest of Stanton.
Crews arrived and found an 84-year-old man trapped in corn up to his neck, the sheriff’s office said.
The farmer had tied himself off with a rope around his waist, stopping him from going completely under the corn.
Two firemen entered the bin as other crews used a grain vacuum to remove the corn from around the victim.
About an hour later, the farmer and rescued. He was taken to a hospital in Norfolk.
“This was a true team effort that led to a successful conclusion of a very dangerous farm accident that often has a darker outcome,” Sheriff Mike Unger said in a press release.
