Feeling of fall with another cooler day
Fall came right on time this year (fall equinox was yesterday), and the high temperature was just 69° in Lincoln!
From the fall equinox to the winter solstice, temperatures will really drop off. We enjoy average temperatures that are quite comfortable in the morning and afternoons in early to mid-fall. By the end of fall, average temperatures are closer to the teens overnight and the upper 30s by day.
Speaking of colder temperatures, we draw closer to the time of the year when we see our first fall frost. That typically happens in Lincoln around the first week of October, which is next week. Then the first freeze and hard freeze naturally follow.
But nowhere near those brisk temperatures this morning. We’ll have this Monday morning begin in the upper 40s and lower 50s across southeast Nebraska.
Later on as cloud cover diminishes, temperatures will still be on the cooler side. Highs on Monday will be around the low to mid 70s.
A passing front will attempt to bring some more showers across southeast Nebraska Tuesday morning. Moisture looks to be somewhat limited with this chance, so we won’t expect all that much. Some pop-up storms are possible across eastern Nebraska behind this into the afternoon as well.
Besides that, most of the week we’ll hang out in the 70s and lower 80s and remain mostly dry. With another system looking to form in the Gulf of Mexico, we’ll be waiting to see how that evolves for more certainty in the weekend forecast.
