Female Flight Manifest Profile: Amanda Kaufman

Hundreds of female veterans from Nebraska are flying to Washington D.C.
The flight takes off Monday, Sept. 24. at 4:00 a.m from Eppley airport in Omaha.
One of the veterans attending is Amanda Kaufman.
Kaufman was only 17-year-old, a junior in high school, when she enrolled in the U.S Army Reserves.
Kaufman said, “Right after September 11TH. Like a lot of people, I was horrified about what happened, so I decided to join up. A couple of my friends did too.”
KAUFMAN DID HER FIRST TOUR IN IRAQ AND KUWAIT IN 2004 AND 2005 FOR OVER A YEAR. She DID CONVOYS, TRANSPORTATION AND CONVOY SECURITY.
VISITING WASHINGTON D.C IS SOMETHING AMANDA NEVER THOUGHT SHE WOULD BE ABLE TO DO. SHE’S EVEN MORE EXCITED BECAUSE IT’S FOR WOMEN VETERANS.
She said, “The majority of the military is of course male dominated. It hasn’t, back in WWII and all the past wars, it did have women that served in nursing and more support behind the lines type of jobs. It’s only fairly recently that they’ve allowed women to more front line-type jobs. I think we’re doing a pretty good job of showing that we can do it.”
PATRIOTIC PRODUCTIONS URGES THE PUBLIC TO WELCOME HOME THE VETERANS AT EPPLEY AIRPORT AROUND 8:30 MONDAY NIGHT.
