Few passing flurries possible; much warmer soon
Some significant snow fell in central Nebraska with our recent spring blizzard. With updated reports from Tuesday afternoon, the highest totals across Nebraska were found near Arnold and Anselmo – well over a foot!
Our temperatures will rebound a lot quicker than those in central Nebraska since we didn’t see any accumulation across much of southeast Nebraska. There are a few factors keeping us cooler again on Wednesday, though.
Some clouds are expected to build back in during the morning, and a few passing flurries can’t be ruled out.
Another factor keeping us cooler is cold air aloft. Until we get the ridge building over the western United States to move overhead, we’re expecting below normal temperatures again Wednesday.
But what will make the day better is the wind backing off. Light winds will shift to be out of the southwest by the afternoon.
Again, with that recent snow in central Nebraska (and a lot of it), the snowpack will negatively impact temperatures.
Where less snow accumulated, temperatures will be closer to the middle 40s and lower 50s.
Then we’re much warmer and turn to spring again to end the week. Highs by then are expected to be above normal in the 60s and closing in on 70° by Friday.
There is a chance as a cold front moves through late Friday night into early Saturday that we see a few showers across southern Nebraska, but then dry again for the weekend.
Then, we’ll be watching for another chance for rain and a few thunderstorms late Sunday into Monday. Most of Easter weekend should be great for egg hunting!
