Few stronger storms possible Wednesday in southeast Nebraska
A quick, light shower was seen north Lincoln early Wednesday morning, but it’ll be the scattered showers and thunderstorms approaching from the west by the afternoon that we’ll be watching a bit closer.
The warm front and cloud cover working through eastern Nebraska is keeping temperatures in the lower 60s to start the day. Temperatures aren’t going to vary all that much today with mostly cloudy to overcast conditions.
After the warm front, the cold front will drive a few stronger storms across southeast Nebraska after about 2 p.m. Wednesday. Showers and thunderstorms will linger through the evening, ending after about 10 p.m. tonight.
There is a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk for southeast Nebraska due to the chance for a few storms during today’s timeframe to intensify and become severe.
The primary threats will be damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail up to 1″ in diameter. Not everyone will see the severe storms, but thunderstorms in general are likely across southeast Nebraska.
After Wednesday, we dry back out and really warm up. Good thing pool season is right around the corner!
Temperatures by the end of the week will be back into the 80s, almost pushing 90° for the first half of the weekend.
