Fillmore Central eliminates Malcolm in comeback win

GENEVA, Neb. (KLKN) — Fillmore Central came from behind Friday night to defeat Malcolm for a spot in the next round of the playoffs.

The Panthers prevailed 30-20 over the Clippers to stay undefeated.

Malcolm went up 20-7 in the third quarter when quarterback Maddox Meyer found Logan McGreer from 5 yards out for a touchdown.

Then the comeback began.

Fillmore Central quarterback Trevan Stassines kept it himself and, with defenders all over him, lunged into the end zone.

The Panthers faked the extra point, and Stassines flipped it to Dylan Gewecke, who raced to the pylon for 2 points.

Later in the third, Stassines looked to pass but kept it himself, running up the middle for a touchdown.

Malcolm tried to make a comeback late in the fourth quarter.

But with less than a minute to go, Carson Frank fumbled the ball, and the Panthers recovered it.

Fillmore Central will travel to Norfolk Catholic next week for a battle of the unbeatens.
