Final cold start this week before warming up
One more dangerously cold morning! Then we’re on to much warmer weather.
A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for most of the state until 9 a.m. Friday for wind chills up to -30° possible.
Lincoln has shattered a new record low for the second day in a row. So far, we have dropped to -17 already (previous record: -9 in 1918).
Southerly winds will still make it feel chilly on Friday, but we’ll see afternoon highs warm to the lower 20s. That will be about a 30-35 degree warm up for everyone today.
Warm air is looming out west today where highs in the 30s and 40s are likely.
And that warm air is on its way for the weekend. A lot of melting and thawing will start this weekend, and areas of snow will quickly diminish through next week.
Because we expected to be even warmer next week, staying with temperatures in the 50s (even close to 60 at times) for several days.
The light at the end of the cold, dark tunnel we’ve been in this week is coming.
