Fire at downtown Lincoln apartment building caused $230,000 in damage

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An overhead power line sparked a fire at an apartment building in downtown Lincoln late Tuesday night.

Around 9:30 p.m., Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews were sent to the apartment near 17th and G streets.

LFR spokeswoman MJ Lierman said flames were seen coming from the roof when crews arrived.

Firefighters extinguished the flames, which were found in the attic and an apartment unit, in about 15 minutes.

Everyone had evacuated the building by the time LFR arrived.  No one was injured, but several residents were relocated.

Lierman said the fire caused $200,000 in damage to the structure and another $30,000 to the contents.
