Fire caused $125,000 in damage to east Lincoln home, LFR says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A fire at a home Monday night in east Lincoln caused $125,000 in damage, officials say.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews were sent to the home near 56th and A streets around 9 p.m.

The fire started in the kitchen, and crews saw smoke coming from the house when they arrived.

Firefighters got the fire under control in about 20 minutes, and no one was injured.

LFR spokeswoman MJ Lierman said the fire caused $75,000 to the structure and another $50,000 to its contents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.  Lierman said the home is unlivable due to smoke, heat and water damage.
