Fire caused $5,000 in damage at building in Lincoln neighborhood

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews put out a fire at a building in the South Salt Creek neighborhood on Tuesday.
LFR responded to the structure near Second and Garfield streets around 9:50 a.m.
Crews found a fire in the exterior wall around the wood stove chimney vent, according to LFR spokeswoman MJ Lierman.
Firefighters extinguished the fire “rather quickly,” Lierman said.
LFR estimates the fire caused about $5,000 in damage, and no one was injured.
