Fire caused $150,000 in damage at Lincoln apartment building

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A fire at a Lincoln apartment building Tuesday caused at least $150,000 in damage, officials said.

Around 4:40 p.m., Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews were sent to the apartment building near 16th and G Streets.

When crews arrived, they found a man who was about to jump from a third-floor window, LFR spokeswoman MJ Lierman said.

But firefighters set up a ladder and rescued the man.  He was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The man’s dog died in the fire, Lierman said.

Several units had smoke damage, and the one below the fire had some water damage.

The exact cause is unknown, but Fire Inspector Jason Relford found “smoking materials and electrical sources” near where the fire began.

No one was injured in the fire, Lierman said.
