Crews put out fire at west Lincoln recycling center
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Firefighters responded to a recycling center in west Lincoln on Thursday afternoon.
A cardboard fire was reported about 2:30 p.m. at a building near Sixth and J streets, according to Lincoln Fire & Rescue.
Spokeswoman MJ Lierman said the fire started outside the building, but the wind spread the flames inside.
No one was injured.
Lierman said putting out the fire was a large operation.
Firefighters removed all the cardboard from the facility and sprayed it down to make sure the fire was extinguished.
Crews battled the heat as well, with LFR frequently sending in reinforcements.
LFR was on scene for five hours.
