Firefighters extinguished rural Nebraska house fire in ‘extreme cold’
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Volunteer firefighters spent several hours in the cold Sunday putting out a house fire in St. Paul.
Just before midnight, the St. Paul Fire Department was sent to the house fire near Seventh and L streets.

By the time crews arrived, the residents had evacuated the home.
Officials said fire crews faced “extreme cold and icy conditions” while battling the flames.
It took crews a little over three hours to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters searched the home and rescued the family’s cat, officials said.
Several other nearby fire departments helped put the fire out. It’s unknown what caused the fire.
