First frost, freeze in colder mornings ahead across Nebraska

This week we’re entering will have colder mornings especially today and Wednesday.

Freeze Warning is in place for most across the state dropping to the mid and upper 20s Monday morning. A Frost Advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. Monday for southeast Nebraska with temperatures holding just above freezing.

You may wish for extra layers each of the next few mornings this week as well. Tuesday morning isn’t expected to be as cold, but temperatures drop again Wednesday morning.

In fact, those across southeast Nebraska that don’t see freezing temperatures Monday morning will be more likely to see a widespread freeze Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. A Freeze Watch is in place for those counties in light blue down below.

Freeze Watch Tue Night Into Wed

As for planning the rest of Monday, we’ll be on the cooler side of normal throughout the day. Thankfully, winds will have backed off for a calmer afternoon. Highs will be closer to the lower 60s.

Our coolest day in the upcoming forecast will be Tuesday.

Fire danger will be very high, if not extreme, through the end of the week and particularly on Thursday. Gusts will be around 40 mph that day out of the south.

Week Ahead

The chance for rain returns to the forecast by Friday night into Saturday, with a lot of uncertainty at this point. Drivers for some eventual rain may hold off just far enough west that our chances may diminish, so we’ll be looking into that in the coming days.
