ARAPAHOE, Neb. (KLKN) — Phelps County Emergency Manager Justin Norris is heading home after surviving a deadly crash earlier this spring.

He suffered life-threatening injuries in a wreck that killed Elwood Fire Chief Darren Krull back on April 7th.

The two men were responding to the Road 739 Fire north of Arapahoe when their truck collided with a semi in zero visibility, caused by heavy smoke.

Norris spent two weeks in a hospital before being moved to Madonna Rehab, where he’s been making rapid progress.

The father of five says he’s planning on returning to work as soon as this summer.
