Out in western and central Nebraska, snow, sleet, rain and high winds forced some drivers to pay extra attention and even drive a little slower.

The snow started picking up in the North Platte area around sunrise this morning… where the National Weather Service reported snow, combined with over 40 mile an hour wind gusts.

And the Department of Roads reports snow and slush along I–80 between Ogallala and Kearney.

As you see here in this video from Grand Island, the snow fell pretty hard there as well, causing some sleet and minor street flooding around noon today.

Now, a winter weather advisory is in effect in these areas until around 6 p.m.

And back here in Lincoln, the good news is we’ve only seen some minor rain in the area.

The not-so-good news, high winds are expected tonight around 25–30 miles per hour, with gusts up to 55 miles per hour.
