Five departments help put out grain bin fire in southern Lancaster County
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Multiple fire departments responded to a blaze at a grain bin Thursday night in Martell.
The fire broke out about 6:40 p.m. in a grain bin at Southwest 25th Street and West Martell Road, authorities said.
Southwest Fire and Rescue responded and requested help from the Crete Volunteer Fire Department, Hallam Fire & Rescue, Hickman Fire & Rescue and Southeast Fire & Rescue.
Firefighters got the flames under control about 7:20 p.m., according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
They then put out hot spots and removed smoldering grain, leaving the scene just before 10 p.m.
A spokeswoman said the fire started accidentally in a feed truck’s engine compartment.
No one was injured.
