Flashing back to fall on Thursday
We’re going to continue to feel more like fall on Thursday. In the spirit of fall, one of the most recent updates to the fall foliage map has much of eastern Nebraska in our “peak era.” This will not hold on much longer, as you see the patch of “past peak” creeping in from the west. That, and the wind ripping the leaves from the trees as of late.
As those leaves have come down, chances are your lawn is littered with them. If you’re looking to rake the leaves in the near future, Thursday and Friday look like stellar days to do so. Light winds look to be the case for each of those days with mild temperatures.
By Saturday, I’d hold off and I’ll tell you why as you continue to read.
With a better idea of the timing of our next “shortwave” or wave of energy promoting spotty showers, that timing has zeroed in on Saturday. The better chances to see those spotty showers appear to be north of I-80 through northern Nebraska.
One of the latest versions of Stormcast has light showers beginning in NW Nebraska by late Friday night, then continuing to drift south and east. This will give Lincoln and areas north a chance first by about daybreak, then on and off through the afternoon. This also looks to wrap up before sunset Saturday, with not a whole lot expected to come from this.
In saying that, eastern Nebraska could really use what they can get. But look at the latest drought update below! Much of western Nebraska has seen improvements to the point where they’ve been dropped from the drought monitor.
There will be some chances to see rain early next week, too, but they are small chances at this point. Enjoy the mild weather set to continue!
