SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (AP)
Flooding at a Scottsbluff zoo has forced workers to move some animals for their safety.
The Scottsbluff Star-Herald reports that the animals were placed in a quarantine building at the Riverside Discovery Center in response to minor flooding.
Zoo officials say a pond where koi, ducks, swans and Canada geese swim overflowed its banks into a bison enclosure. Another affected area was a barn where goats, donkeys and other animals in the petting zoo live.
Other affected animals included a sloth, a tortoise, Chinese water dragons, a ferret, lovebirds and a hedgehog.
Officials say they’re concerned about the zoo’s finances if it remains closed for an extended period of time.
