Flooding impacts allergy season

Allergy season is in full swing and the flooding has made a big impact this year.

Dr. Mike Sullivan, a local doctor at Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Associates, says it’s been a bad start to the allergy season and some people agree.

“I take an allergy pill every night but I am still having sore throat and sneezing and watery eyes,” Lincoln resident, Peggy Hershberger said.

All of the flooding and rain created a lot of moisture which is not good for the trees and mold.

While medication is best for a lot of people with more severe allergies, there are some other tips and tricks to help get you through the season.

“If my throat starts to hurt, I gargle to kind of relieve that and I take Ibuprofen,” Hershberger said.

The longer than usual winter weather also delayed the allergy season.

Dr. Sullivan says each year, allergies are increasing in severity and the number of people with allergies.
