Flurries on Thursday; Reinforcing shot of cold air for Friday
Wednesday’s sunshine was very short-lived. The clouds have returned and they are keeping temperatures a bit warmer on Thursday morning when compared to recent mornings. On top of that, we are also seeing some snow moving about the area.
Flurries will be possible, especially on Thursday morning. We do not expect much accumulation out of these. However, pavement temperatures are cold enough to allow for some minor accumulation on road surfaces. You’ll need to keep this in mind for the morning commute, as there may be some slick spots or partially covered roads in areas that see snow.
By afternoon, we may begin to see some breaks in the cloud cover. It will be cold, with highs in the low to mid-30s across the area. Factor in the windy conditions on Thursday, and it will feel like the upper teens to low-20s during the afternoon.
Wind chills get even colder on Friday morning. We’re expecting lows to drop to near 10° in Lincoln, with wind chills in the subzero range.
Friday appears to be the coldest day in our immediate future. While we’re still cold on Saturday, we do begin a warming trend. By Sunday, highs return to the 50s. In fact, the 50s for highs is a common theme next week!
