Foggy with light morning rain, turning windy Wednesday
Even though we had cooler temperatures yesterday, that didn’t necessarily mean there wouldn’t be storms!
Severe storms still formed yesterday evening and night – mainly targeting areas just north of Kearney toward the Platte River. We’re lucky it wasn’t warmer though, so these storms could somewhat be limited.
Most storm reports were of hail ranging from pea to golf ball size. The larger hail was seen in Grand Island and Pleasanton.
Grand Island also reported some wind damage as the airport measured gusts as high as 73 mph. Here’s a look at the storm reports across Nebraska from April 1st:
Rain lingers this morning – so don’t forget the rain gear! Gradually the clouds will clear from south to north through eastern Nebraska by this evening.
Temperatures will be around 50° early on, only warming to the upper 50s for a somewhat normal spring day.
West winds though will gust up around 35-40 mph by the afternoon today.
Your forecast through the end of the work week looks like this. Mostly sunny and eventually calmer for Thursday as winds relax.
Scattered showers and rain chances become more likely throughout Friday into early Saturday with a cooling trend into the first half of the weekend.
